THE EMERALD GAZETTE
Every now and then, I like to create projects that emphasize creative writing and media immersion for the purpose of publication practice, such is the case with The Emerald Gazette, a conceptual magazine publication set within the world of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, imagined as an in-universe editorial exploring the Land of Oz following the events of Baum’s early stories.
THE PITCH
Working under the guidelines of creating a magazine publication formatted separately for both print production and digital publication, the goal was to be as authentic as possible to what an actual publication set in Oz was, both visually and creatively through writing, as well as adhering to formatting of typography, page layout, and visual hierarchy.
MY ROLE
As a longtime fan of the series, I aimed to recreate the tone, details, and environments of Oz as authentically as possible, incorporating digitally edited landscapes within Photoshop and visual elements that bring its characters and regions to life and writing and studying out the lore of the series to be as accurate as possible for all fellow Oz fans.

THE RESULTS
The end result is a digital publication shared through social media with Oz fans, and a print ready magazine version I hope to one day independently publish, utilizing the public domain status of the Oz stories and a still passionate love from the fanbase.
