The Emerald Gazette is a conceptual magazine publication set within the world of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, imagined as an in-universe editorial exploring the Land of Oz following the events of Baum’s early stories. This project served as an exercise in storytelling and worldbuilding, grounded in extensive research into L. Frank Baum’s original texts and lore. As a longtime fan of the series, I aimed to recreate the tone, details, and environments of Oz as authentically as possible, incorporating digitally composited landscapes and visual elements that bring its characters and regions to life.
From a design perspective, the project functions as a fully realized magazine, with a strong emphasis on typography, typesetting, and editorial layout. Careful attention was given to visual hierarchy, pacing, and readability, ensuring that each spread feels immersive while maintaining clarity and structure. The result is a cohesive publication that blends narrative depth with refined print design—demonstrating my ability to merge research-driven storytelling with polished, professional layout execution.
